Many people considering joining a destination club find themselves wondering how much they’ll make use of the membership. This is certainly an important question, because the sizeable deposits and annual dues involved only make financial sense if a certain amount of travel is done. Some more light has been shed on this by Exclusive Resorts‘ June disclosure of the useage patterns of its members.

An Exclusive Resorts’ lodge at Bovey Castle in Devon, England
Here are some of the highlights of the report:
- Exclusive Resorts members average 7 trips per year to club destinations
- Members average 80% use of their available days each year
- Half of reservations are made in advance, and the other half are made as ’space available’ reservations
- 7 months in advance is the average reservation timing for advance reservations
- Only 25% of the available nights for 2008 have been booked so far
- Members make most use of the properties during peak periods
How does this information mesh with your current and planned vacation patterns?
