It’s no secret that destination clubs live and die based on the quality and quantity of referrals they receive from existing members - word of mouth is definitely the most powerful sales tool in this industry. As a result, word of mouth is generally nurtured in every way possible. Rewards for referral are common, and the act of referral has its own intrinsic benefits for the existing member who refers others - their friends or associates may become members, in which case the club grows and additional properties are added; they have the psychological payoff of feeling good about putting their friends onto such a good thing; they may be able to holiday together and so on.
Quintess has just announced the expansion of its rewards program for member referrals - the club will now bump up the privileges of those members who refer four members to the club, conferring all of the benefits of charter membership. Also, referring two members increases the membership deposit refund to 100%.
These are quite significant rewards, but obviously affordable given the enormous benefit to Quintess of gaining new members. This is a smart use of incentives to drive sales through word of mouth.
